Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

The Mayer Fabrics Purchasing Department initiates the process of sourcing and purchasing essential materials for the business’s operations. The Purchasing Assistant works directly with outside vendors to ensure that the company is receiving a quality product within a predetermined time frame. The Purchasing Assistant will also work with internal personnel to communicate information regarding ship dates, quality issues, delays, lost packages, closures, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase sample materials, yardage, and office supplies

  • Enter acknowledgements/check pricing ·

  • Maintain open order report

  • Work with vendors regarding backorders, quality issues, and lost shipments

  • Determine and enter vendor order minimums

  • Update and maintain item continuity

  • Create SKU's for new product sampling and yardage

  • Assist Product Development with card layouts as needed

Qualifications

  • Exceptional oral and written communication

  • Enthusiastic learner with attention to detail

  • Exceptional organizational skills

  • Well versed in general Microsoft Office Products: Outlook, Excel, Word

  • Ability & desire to learn new software

  • High School Diploma / College Experience Preferred

  • Knowledge or interest in textile/fabric design field preferred
