The Origin Collection
The Origin Collection reflects a holistic approach to sustainable design, where high-end aesthetics and environmental stewardship work together. This grouping brings together the SEAQUAL INITIATIVE woven series, Kai, Kona, and Nautilus, with Hyphyn™ biodegradable vinyls, Terra and Tectonic, to offer a complete interior solution rooted in the preservation of our natural world.
From the recovery of marine plastic to materials designed with a more thoughtful end-of-life story, Origin explores circularity through refined textures, nature-inspired palettes, and uncompromised commercial performance.
SEAQUAL INITIATIVE Woven Series
The SEAQUAL INITIATIVE woven series brings a purposeful material story to the Origin Collection. Featuring Kai, Kona, and Nautilus, this series incorporates recycled polyester and SEAQUAL® YARN made with Upcycled Marine Plastic, connecting each textile to a broader effort to give recovered materials new life.
Inspired by the movement of water, organic stonework, and layered natural color, these woven upholsteries balance sustainable construction with refined design. Each pattern offers its own expression of texture and movement while coordinating with a broader, nature-driven palette.
KAI
Woven with meticulous precision, Kai’s pattern dashes across the fabric in a mesmerizing interplay of light and shadow. The contrast between its two tones was chosen to coordinate with both Nautilus and Kona, creating a visual harmony that feels sophisticated, balanced, and timeless.
KONA
Kona offers a fresh twist on a traditional plaid, defined by multicolored layers, intricate linework, and the illusion of a broken plaid. Its layered construction creates a dynamic sense of movement and color while maintaining a sophisticated visual balance.
NAUTILUS
Nautilus is a midscale textile with a serene, atmospheric quality. Its fluid, rhythmic pattern lends a layer of organic elegance to upholstered furniture, creating a statement that feels both refined and naturally inspired.
Hyphyn Biodegradable Vinyls
The Hyphyn™ biodegradable vinyls within the Origin Collection bring a new layer of innovation to performance upholstery. Terra and Tectonic are designed to offer the durability, cleanability, and resilience expected from coated fabrics, while introducing a more environmentally conscious material story.
With biodegradable construction and Hyphyn™ biodegradable recycled polyester backing, these vinyls support the collection’s larger circularity theme. From Terra’s classic leather-inspired surface to Tectonic’s richly printed woven effect, each pattern delivers the practical advantages of vinyl with a design language rooted in nature.
TECTONIC
Tectonic redefines coated upholstery through deep textural richness and the visual warmth of woven textiles. Its intricately printed, multicolored pattern recreates the look of soft, loopy yarn while maintaining the durability, cleanability, and resilience of vinyl.
TERRA
Terra brings the timeless sophistication of classic leather into a more environmentally conscious vinyl construction. Featuring a fine-grain leather emboss, Terra offers the refined look of genuine leather with the peace of mind that comes from a biodegradable material story.
FAUX SUEDE
Alongside the Origin Collection, Mayer Fabrics will also be previewing Faux Suede. Inspired by the familiar softness of velvety leather, Faux Suede offers a supple hand and elevated tactile quality for commercial upholstery.
