Mayer Fabrics understands that recent changes in the global trade environment, including tariff developments and rising raw material costs, may raise questions about their impact on your business. We are closely monitoring these changes, evaluating their potential effects, and will keep you informed as new information becomes available. Our focus remains on providing you with reliable service, high-quality products, and the best possible value.

IEEPA Tariffs & Refunds

On February 24, 2026, the Supreme Court struck down global tariffs in a 6–3 decision. The court found the President’s executive authority to have been exceeded by invoking the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose duties without approval from Congress. The ruling applies to the "reciprocal" tariffs on nearly every US trading partner and additional drug-trafficking-related tariffs on China, Mexico, and Canada.

The government opened a refund portal on April 20th. To apply for a refund, you must be the importer of record for the product. Mayer Fabrics works with partners to import nearly 90% of our products. Only the importer of record or customs broker can request a refund through the portal. We are reliant on our partners to requests these refunds and pass them through. Mayer Fabrics and our partners are working to achieve these refunds but due to the high volume of custom entries that need refunded, the process may stretch out over a lengthy period.

Note: For products made in China, the Section 201 and “Fentanyl” tariffs are not included in this refund and remain in effect.

Section 122 Global Surcharge

The President announced a new 10% global surcharge under a different law that falls under Section 122. This surcharge has a 150-day limit before congressional approval is required and a 15% maximum tariff rate. No federal investigation is required for use. This went into effect February 24, 2026, and is set to expire on July 24, 2026, if a change is not made prior to then.

Note: Tariff rates are governed by international trade regulations and may change without prior notice. Any applicable tariffs will be calculated at the time of invoicing and are the responsibility of the purchaser.

Rising Raw Material Costs

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has created significant geopolitical uncertainty, leading to sustained volatility in global energy, raw material, and logistics markets. Disruptions affecting oil supply and petrochemical supply chains have significantly increased the cost of raw materials, transportation, and production across our industry. Based on current market conditions, these disruptions and cost pressures are expected to continue for at least the next several months.
